1987 Foundation Event
With another year gone, the Trustees of BRACE Dementia Research are delighted to announce the annual 1987 Foundation Event for 2024. Join us for an afternoon tea and a private tour in the beautiful gardens of Goldney House and Grotto (BS8 1DE), at 1pm on Tuesday 14th May 2024.
This event is by invitation only and attended by members of the 1987 Foundation.
In 2018, BRACE launched a special legacy initiative called the 1987 Foundation. This was created as a membership organisation to thank all supporters who pledge a future gift in their Will to BRACE.
Of course, gifts in Wills are also behind many of the research projects happening right now. You can see the impact of people’s generosity today in the lives of those living with dementia and their families as we edge ever closer to a cure.

What will we be doing?
On the day we will be having a light afternoon tea, followed by a tour of the gardens and the grotto.
The beautiful Goldney Gardens, nestled behind Goldney House, boast an ornamental Grotto, site of the original flag garden, Hercules, the Rotunda, the Bastion, the Tower and a Canal and Heritage Orchard. The Grade 1 listed Grotto was the first major garden project of Thomas Goldney III and took 27 years to complete. The Grotto, believed to be one of the finest surviving examples of an eighteenth-century grotto in Britain, is highly decorated inside with rare, exotic shells, Bristol Diamonds (quartz), minerals with a pillared hall, a rock pool overlooked by a River God and a Lion’s Den.
How to get there
Car
Street parking near Clifton Hill House is primarily permit only for local resident’s (Monday to Saturday). There are limited pay and display bays available on a first-come-first-served basis. Park and Ride services allow you to park without difficulty on the outskirts of the city. A bus transports you to the city centre. For further

Train
Bristol Temple Meads is the closest main train station, 1.6 miles and a 35-minute walk away from the venue. Alternatively, you can use local buses or an e-scooter to transport you to the venue.

The number 2a and 8 bus services run from Bristol Temple Meads train station and stop within a 5–10-minute walk from Clifton Hill House. Alight at
