"Dementia to me means the tide is coming in. If you can picture all of your memories as writings in sand, dementia is the tide coming in to erase them piece by piece. It was heartbreaking to see my dad go through this and become more and more dependent on other people, as he had been such a headstrong person throughout his life. Dad had his edges rounded (to quote Billy Connolly) and to see anyone suffer like that, let alone a parent was the most difficult thing I have experienced.

Dementia research is important because we need as much information as possible to make sure we can make the right choices to avoid dementia altogether. And for anyone who is suffering a cure would be incredible!"
