Chris Williams and Lib Harrison from BRACE with Vishul Seewoolall from Signature

BRACE has partnered with Signature Senior Lifestyle, a leading provider of luxury residential, nursing, and dementia care, who have generously pledged to raise £25,000 for the charity’s Dementia Research Nurse, working at the Bristol Brain Centre.

The nurse plays a crucial role in recruiting patients for research studies, collecting data and keeping patients engaged, which improves the quality of the research. This important role is frequently funded by charities due to a lack of government funding, making the pledge from Signature invaluable.

Volunteers taking part in research projects play a vital role in the development of new treatments for dementia. For instance, the new Alzheimer’s drugs which were licensed last year used volunteers to test the effectiveness of the medication. Without research volunteers, these drugs would not have been approved for use in the UK.

The Dementia Research Nurse plays an important role in supporting volunteers in such research projects, contributing greatly to the development of new treatments and also improved diagnosis of dementia.

Now, thanks to support from Signature, the charity is able to guarantee this much needed role will be secure well into 2026.

Chris Williams, Chief Executive Officer of BRACE Dementia Research says:

“Dementia will affect one in two people in their lifetime, and that will not change until we have more and more research taking place.

Signature’s support for BRACE and the Dementia Research Nurse will play an invaluable role in supporting research that will take us one step closer to improved treatments and improved diagnosis for people living with this incurable condition.”

Vishul Seewoolall, Chief Operating Officer of Signature Senior Lifestyle, commented:

“Dementia is a condition close to the heart of so many of our residents, their families, and our team members. At Signature, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care and support for those living with dementia, and we recognise the urgent need for more research into this condition.

We are proud to be partnering with BRACE to champion their incredible mission, directly contributing to advancing dementia research, and further educate and support our communities.”

BRACE is hugely grateful to everyone at Signature for their support of  and dementia research. The care homes will raise the pledged £25,000 through hosting coffee mornings, taking part in charity cycles and charity walks, quizzes and more, we can’t wait to see the fundraising activities that the homes will get involved with over the next year.
