Stories and Ideas
The ways in which businesses support us are varied and often surprising!
Staff from EE's head office in Hertfordshire took to the streets of Westminster for a day. Surprised commuters and puzzled tourists found a group of cheerful people bouncing around London's best known landmarks on suitably orange spacehoppers.
The apprentices at Rolls Royce in Filton made BRACE one of their two supported charities. Fundraising ideas included the band featured in the banner photo above and a winning entry in the Bristol Dragon Boat Race.
Avenue Cafe in Emersons Green, South Gloucestershire, is a small cafe with just five staff, but produced a great example of community fundraising. They raised about £4,500 to split between four charities, including BRACE, much of it from sponsored running.
Veale Wasbrough Vizards support a Bristol charity and London charity every year. When they chose BRACE, they tried everything from the Bristol Half Marathon, to bag packing in a supermarket and subjecting one of their partners to the ice bucket challenge.
IOP Publishing enjoyed their fundraising in the form of a series of quiz evenings with plenty of food and drink. They also arranged a viewing of an international football match on a screen in their offices and held a musical evening and Christmas jumper day.
Arup's Bristol office raised well over £12,000, partly thrugh a well run golf day, but largely by selling their staff very reasonably priced drinks and snacks from fridges in the office. Cheaper and quicker than a trip to the shop!
Butterworth Jones in Weston-Super-Mare did most of their fundraising in style by holding a well organised and very smart ball. The donkey picture on Weston beach was just for fun.
