New BRACE Trustee
We are delighted to announce that Dr John Pounsford MD FRCP has joined the Trustees of BRACE.
John recently retired as a consultant geriatrician at Southmead Hospital. He has a special interest in lung disease in the elderly. He had an interest in medical management and was Clinical Director of Medicine at North Bristol for 13 years.
Outside Bristol, John chaired a number of panels for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and sat on the HTA and EME Prioritisation Groups and the Oversite and Scrutiny committee. He sat on a NICE appraisal committee for over 10 years after chairing a topic selection group.
Latterly John was a member of the Gosport Independent Panel examining opioid use in elderly in-patients at the hospital. He is currently the external advisor to the Health and Wellbeing Committee of the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
Chair of Trustees, Professor Stephen Lisney warmly welcomed John to the Board. He said, “I very much welcome Dr John Pounsford as a Trustee of BRACE. He will bring to the Board his wealth of experience of clinical services for care of the elderly within both the NHS and the community.”
